HAR6096 Bradwell Street Garages Development - New Housing Development Scheme

Site Location: Former Bradwell Street Garage site, London, E1 4BY, Bethnal Green East ward. The development of this new housing scheme directly supports the Council’s strategic priority to increase the supply of affordable homes within the borough and address the growing challenges of homelessness and overcrowding. It aligns with the Council’s new 10-year Housing Strategy, More Homes. Better Homes. Safer Homes, which outlines the ambition to deliver high-quality homes for local residents. With over 30,000 households currently on the Council’s housing register, many families face significant difficulties in securing homes that are safe, secure, and suitable for their needs. The Bradwell Street development will deliver seven intentionally designed large family homes, all comprising four bedrooms. This includes one 4-bedroom, 8-person M4(3) wheelchair-accessible home, specifically designed to meet the needs of residents identified through Project 120—Tower Hamlets’ initiative supporting the borough’s most acutely disabled families. This purpose-built scheme places residents at the centre of the design process, ensuring that the needs of end users are fully considered and incorporated. The development has been designed in accordance with non-accredited Passivhaus principles, promoting enhanced energy efficiency and sustainability. The site is located adjacent to Network Rail on a constrained infill plot. The proposed construction programme reflects the challenges associated with Build Adjacent to Public Assets (BAPA) risks, with an estimated duration of approximately 18 months from groundbreaking to practical completion. The main works contract is expected to remain in place for a further 12 months post–practical completion to cover the defects liability period.

Next Generation Technology Reseller Arrangements

The Bank of England is considering its future approach to procuring technology products and associated services following the expiry of its current technology Value Added Reseller (VAR) framework. At this stage, the Bank has not made a final decision on the structure of any future procurement and is undertaking preliminary market engagement to help inform its thinking, procurement strategy and framework design. In particular, the Bank is considering a dedicated framework focussed on Cyber & Emerging Technology, alongside one or more additional frameworks covering other areas of technology spend. The categories currently being considered are: Cyber & Emerging Technology Software & Platforms Hardware, End User Computing (EUC) & Connectivity Enterprise Applications, Cloud Hosting & Infrastructure The purpose of this engagement is to obtain market feedback on areas including: Framework structure and lotting strategy The advantages and disadvantages of single versus multiple framework arrangements Supplier capability and capacity across the proposed categories Commercial and pricing models Routes to market for emerging technologies Innovation and market developments Supplier onboarding, framework governance and competition models The Bank welcomes input from suppliers operating in one or more of the proposed categories and intends to use the feedback received to inform its future procurement strategy, framework design and any subsequent procurement activity. This Preliminary Market Engagement exercise does not constitute a call for competition and will not result in the award of any contract. The Bank reserves the right to amend the scope, structure, lotting approach and procurement strategy of any future procurement following completion of the engagement process.

Western Range Planning Communications Consultant

The British Museum brings together the history of humankind, all cultures of the world spanning millennia. It connects us to our past and to each other. It is a place where everyone is welcome, where many voices meet to understand, and to question what brings us together and what separates us. It is a place of exploration and a place of inspiration. The collection that the Museum holds in trust for the world is of unparalleled breadth, depth, beauty and significance. A truly global resource, free and available to everyone. The Museum's role is to enhance and make accessible the collection through research, through interpretation, through display, through lending, and to share what it learns, as well as the process of learning, with others. With this matchless position comes a responsibility to ensure that this work can continue, ensuring the collection is cared for and accessible for generations to come, and that the Museum remains a centre of excellence and is continually relevant into the 21st century. The physical manifestation of the British Museum in Bloomsbury is iconic. It comprises almost an entire city block in one of the most intricate and established parts of central London. It is a treasured national icon within a conservation area that is, in itself, emblematic of the Capital. The Museum has an internal floor area of over 100,000m2, within a footprint that is packed with a diversity of buildings; the estate is Grade I listed, with perimeter properties that are listed Grade II. Each part of the Museum contains, iconic, often sizeable and irreplaceable items from the collection, and each is visited by many thousands of people, every day. Space on the site is both limited and precious, especially in terms of gallery spaces. The original quadrangle was designed for 100,000 visitors per annum, a figure that was already far exceeded in the 1850s. As it stands, annual visitor numbers to the Museum now regularly exceed six million. Today, there are heightened security requirements and a fundamental need to ensure inclusivity and access, as well as enabling intuitive wayfinding, addressing dilapidations, and creating an environment where people can connect with the collection, and by doing so, with each other. The Western Range Programme focuses on a substantial part of the estate that is in urgent need of both repair and re-imagining. This offers the Museum an opportunity to make a statement of its future intent, through reimagined galleries, new state-of-the-art storage facilities and engaging contemporary architecture, in juxtaposition to the highly significant and already celebrated listed buildings on the site. A multi-disciplinary design team led by Lina Ghotmeh Architecture has been selected to deliver the Western Range programme which is currently at the end of RIBA Stage 2 in the design process. Despite appearing as a single entity, the Western Range comprises a miscellany of 10 separate buildings which have been added to Robert Smirke's original Grade I listed Museum; as a result, the exact extent of the red-line boundary and phasing for this project is dependent on a number of interlocking considerations. The proposed project outline can be seen in the attached documentation. In the region of 15,000m2, it accounts for almost 15% of the floor space within the Bloomsbury site, in a warren of inflexible and static rooms. Further, recent surveys indicate that the existing building fabric and infrastructure are in a state that is below modern expectations. It comprises around 7,500m2 of gallery space and currently houses the Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece (including the Parthenon Sculptures), Rome, and Ancient Assyria and Middle East collections, along with 4,500m2 of back-of-house collection storage. The delivery of the Western Range redevelopment will take place within a complex and highly sensitive operational environment, requiring construction works to be carefully planned and coordinated alongside the ongoing ac…

UKRI-6338 R55 Roof Overlay – Supply and Installation

The existing roof covering to R55 Target Station 1 has reached the end of its serviceable life and is experiencing recurring water ingress events which present a risk to scientific operations, equipment, and business continuity. A full roof refurbishment is required to provide a durable, weatherproof building envelope and ensure the facility remains operational for the long term. The existing roof construction comprises a 1960s Flintkote Monoform roofing system installed over a reinforced wood wool deck, with a subsequent refurbishment undertaken in the 1990s. Investigations have identified widespread deterioration of the roof covering and saturated insulation within part of the southern gutter. The proposed works comprise refurbishment of approximately 4,800m² of roof covering through installation of a new overlay roofing system, together with localised replacement of failed insulation within the southern gutter area and associated alterations to roof-mounted services and lightning protection systems as required. A thermal upgrade has been assessed but is not considered technically feasible or economically viable due to the existing roof construction. The proposed roofing solution will therefore focus on delivering a long-life waterproofing system while incorporating a high-reflectivity finish to reduce thermal loading on the building and roof structure. The project will be undertaken within an operational scientific facility and will require careful coordination with building users, existing plant and equipment and lightning protection systems.

Professional Estate Management Services Framework

National Records of Scotland (NRS) operates across an estate comprising five buildings, four of which are located in Edinburgh (three being Category ‘A’ listed) and one in Dumfries. The historic and cultural significance of these assets requires the engagement of suppliers with demonstrable expertise in conservation led estates services and operational, specialist archival storage facilities and a clear understanding of the statutory, technical and professional requirements associated with working within protected and sensitive environments. Such services are critical to ensuring that NRS can continue to fulfil its role as custodian of Scotland’s records, while maintaining safe, compliant and functional accommodation for collections, staff and, where applicable, members of the public. NRS shares many common estate management challenges and requirements with other Scottish Government sponsored organisations, including Historic Environment Scotland and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Each partner organisation is responsible for the stewardship of nationally important, and in many cases listed or protected, operationally specialist buildings, landscapes and collections. These estates require a consistent, high quality and conservation focused approach to professional services, delivered by suppliers with proven experience of working within complex heritage environments. NRS has invited partner organisations to establish a joint Framework Agreement for professional estates services. The framework aims to secure access to a suitably skilled and diverse supply base with specialist technical and conservation expertise, reduce duplication of procurement activity, and provide a compliant, efficient and flexible mechanism through which participating organisations can call off services as required. This collaborative approach is intended to support value for money, improve service quality and resilience, and ensure that all organisations are able to discharge their custodial responsibilities effectively and sustainably over the life of the framework. Services that may be called off under the Framework include (but are not limited to): Multi disciplinary technical and design services (including architectural and engineering); Conservation led consultancy for listed and historic buildings; Support to in house estates and facilities teams, including specialist advice and surveys; Project and construction management; Health and safety, fire safety, asbestos surveys and management and water safety (including legionella) services; Planned maintenance planning, inspections, condition surveys and compliance support.
