Lincolnshire County Council is initiating a tender opportunity for a new Stop Smoking Service and a Falls Prevention Strength and Balance Service. These two services will be procured as part of a single lotted tender process, which will result in the award of two separate contracts. Funded through the consolidated and ringfenced smoking cessation grant, the service will offer behavioural support, access to cessation aids, digital interventions and targeted initiatives to help residents successfully quit smoking tobacco. It will deliver structured Falls Management Exercise (FaME) programmes led by appropriately qualified instructors, alongside home-based exercise support, referral management, pathway coordination and signposting to wider health, wellbeing and community services. A key focus of the service will be to improve physical strength, balance and mobility, reducing the likelihood and impact of falls and supporting individuals to maintain their quality of life. This opportunity relates to the A46 Newark Bypass road scheme which is a critical part of National Highways’ investment to make all our major roads more dependable, durable and most importantly, safe. Our improvements to the route that connects the M1 and Leicester to the A1 and central Lincolnshire will help reduce congestion in the area. We propose to improve the A46 Newark bypass by widening 6.5km of the existing single carriageway to a dual carriageway, to provide two lanes in each direction between Farndon and Winthorpe roundabouts near Newark-on-Trent. National Highways are looking to procure a design and build partner to deliver the A46 Newark Bypass road scheme. National Highways are aware the Government are consulting on proposed changes to RIS3 and that includes this project. No decisions have been made at this time.

The Wendling Estate is a council estate located in the Gospel Oak ward, with St Stephen’s Close immediately adjacent. Together they are known as the Wendling and St Stephen’s Close Estate, covering approximately 2.6 hectares and comprising 240 existing homes, including at the time of writing 191 Council-tenanted homes and 49 leasehold properties.
