This tender invites suppliers to bid for Wonderlab interactives. These interactive exhibits will provide moments of joy, fun, surprise and wonder throughout the visitor journey. Wonderlab interactive exhibits will be intuitive, easy to manipulate and importantly will not rely on written instructions to function. Water Management - Legionella

The Northern Lighthouse Board has 208 lighthouses protecting the coastline of Scotland, the Northern Isles, The Western Isles and the Isle of Man as well as an office in Edinburgh, and bases in Oban, Inverness, Lerwick and Kirkwall. The lighthouse stations are infrequently visited, with some being annual or biennial maintenance visits of varying lengths as detailed in the requirements document. This should be taken into account in the risk assessment. Of these buildings 66 have a water system that is supplied from either mains, private or stored water supplied by NLB tender. NLB has a duty to ensure those systems are assessed, compliant and maintained to ensure they pose no risk. It should be noted on all lighthouse station sites that the water system is used for washing, showering and flushing toilets, bottled water is provided for drinking and cooking. For mains sites bottled water is still the preferred means for drinking water. All stations with water have UV and particulate filters within the water system, unfortunately the UV system is switched off between visits and is not optimally maintained. NLB supplement the UV system by storing water automatically dosed with a silver stabilised hydrogen peroxide solution at 250 parts per million. The Northern Lighthouse Board is seeking to appoint a Contractor who will: - Undertake Legionella Risk assessments, remedial works and advise necessary control measures and testing regimes to all buildings, structures or assets with hot and cold-water systems and services at all easily accessible road end sites. For remote sites the Contractor will carry out a desk top risk assessment based on information provided by NLB. Answer ad hoc queries and provide advice on legionella related matters at NLB sites. When required, approximately every three years, the Contractor will provide suitable and sufficient training or refresher training to NLB Technicians to allow them to gather the appropriate information on the remote sites. Further information on requirements of this procurement including technical specifications can be found in Schedule 2 - Requirements Specification. British Museum Round Reading Room Roof Oculus Works

Project Overview The British Museum is seeking to appoint a Principal Contractor for a programme of essential roof repair and replacement works to the Grade I listed Round Reading Room, located at the centre of the Museum. Building Context and Heritage Significance The Round Reading Room was designed by Sydney Smirke and completed in 1857. It is a structure of exceptional national heritage significance, combining iron primary construction with brick masonry, a copper-clad dome, and a fully glazed central lantern. The roofscape comprises three elements: a perimeter flat roof known as the Snow Gallery Roof; the copper dome in batten-roll standing seam; and a twenty-sided glazed lantern incorporating patent glazing, timber sidelights, and a decorative internal laylight. Scope of Works The works span four principal areas: • Snow Gallery Roof: Removal of an existing membrane and mineral wool flat roof build-up down to the concrete deck. Installation of a warm roof with cold-applied liquid waterproofing membrane, including upstands, penetrations, and new lightning protection. • Copper Dome Conservation and Repair: Close-quarters condition survey and conservation-led repair from temporary scaffold, including localised copper panel replacement, seam and flashing repairs, and full replacement of the lantern base apron. Works must be undertaken by heritage-accredited metal roofing specialists. • Lantern Glazing, Windows and Refurbishment: Full replacement of the existing patent-glazed lantern atop the dome with a bespoke tiered steel glazing bar system; repair and redecoration of external windows and internal sliding sashes; installation of BMS-linked actuators; and in-situ conservation of the historic internal laylight. • Maintenance Access and MEP: Upgrade of permanent access provisions including fall-arrest and restraint systems, internal walkway refurbishment, replacement heating, LED lighting, and BMS integration. The project includes a number of CDP items, including, but not limited to, scaffold and temporary works, tiered patent glazing, access systems and MEP systems. Key Project Constraints • Access and Logistics: The site is entirely enclosed within the Foster+Partners Great Court roof, with no direct external crane access, and the Round Reading Room is to remain open to staff and the public for the maximum time possible during the works. A Stage 4 design for a cable-restrained scaffold system and temporary roof has been developed by an access specialist and needs to be completed as a CDP item, alongside a full lifting, logistics and evacuation strategy. • Operational Environment: Although temporary periods of closure and exclusion will be possible in the Round Reading Room, the Museum will remain open without restriction throughout the construction period. Noise and vibration limits apply, and protection of the Reading Room interior and collections is mandatory throughout. • Hazardous Materials: Asbestos-Containing Materials and lead-based paints are confirmed present within the lantern and on historic ironwork. Safe methods of removal must be provided during the works. Procurement and Programme The project will be procured via a single-stage traditional tender under a JCT Standard Building Contract 2024 with Contractor's Design Portion. A contractor will be selected on capability, heritage experience, and commercial submission, with appointment aimed for November 2026, a start on site in January 2027 and Practical Completion targeted for Q1 2028. Contractors will be required to demonstrate CDP and construction experience across: conservation of Grade I or II* listed structures; heritage metal roofing; liquid-applied roofing; bespoke patent glazing fabrication; heritage window joinery and ironwork; works within live occupied public buildings; and complex temporary works in constrained environments. Due to the confidential/commercially sensitive nature of information that will be included in the associated tender documents we …

Provision of Contingency Official Veterinarians ("COV") Services in Scotland

Supporting Scotland's Response to Exotic Animal Disease Outbreaks The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is seeking support from vet practices across Scotland to help respond to outbreaks of exotic notifiable and reportable animal diseases, including Avian Influenza (AI) and Bluetongue (BT). During disease outbreaks, APHA often requires additional veterinary capacity to undertake field-based disease control activities such as farm visits, clinical inspections, examinations and sampling. We recognise the invaluable local knowledge and expertise held by veterinary practices across Scotland and would like to work with practices to strengthen Scotland's ability to respond quickly and effectively when outbreaks occur. We intend to invite interested practices to join a framework that would allow APHA to call upon veterinary resource within your local area when additional support is needed. Before designing this framework, we are interested to hear from vet practices in Scotland about how you think we can best work together. We are inviting you to: 1. Submit written feedback to us by Fri 16th October. 2. Join one of our engagement sessions (via Microsoft Teams), during which we will present our draft plans for the framework. The time has yet to be agreed, but we propose either 7pm Wed 28th Oct or 12:30 pm Fri 30th Oct allowing you to engage with us over lunch or after practice hours. If you wish to attend, please let us know which time works best for you. Below, we provide further information regarding the services, and describe the areas on which we are keen to hear your thoughts about how we can best work together. Training and Support Any vets deployed through this arrangement will receive comprehensive training before undertaking outbreak work. Practices can decide which members of their team receive training and make themselves available for deployment; there is no requirement for all vets within a practice to participate. APHA will provide disease-specific training and ongoing support. Deployed vets will be briefed before each assignment and supported by experienced APHA colleagues throughout the process. Practice principals and senior vets will not be expected to supervise these visits or provide the training themselves. APHA will reimburse participating vets for the time spent completing the required training. Flexible Participation The framework will operate on a best endeavours basis, recognising that private veterinary work remains your priority and that staffing availability can vary significantly between practices. While we hope practices will support disease control activities wherever possible, there is no obligation to release staff when operational pressures make this difficult. Participation in the framework does not guarantee deployment, nor does it commit practices to providing resource on every occasion. When additional veterinary support is required, APHA will contact practices within the relevant geographical area to determine availability and arrange deployment. Contract and Payment We are open to considering a range of pricing models to provide these services. For example: (1) practices could submit pricing to us, we would then award work to practices that represent the best value for money for a specific requirement; (2) we could use the OV19(S) hourly rates; or (3) you could propose other models for our consideration. Travel and Expenses Deployed vets will be required to hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a practice or personal vehicle. We propose that travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed in line with APHA's published rates. Working Together to Protect Scottish Livestock Scotland's geography presents unique challenges for animal health and disease control. The remote nature of many farming communities means that local veterinary practices play a vital role in protecting livestock health and supporting farmers. By working together, APHA and private veterinary practices can st…
