The London Fire Commissioner is undertaking a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) exercise to inform the development of a future procurement strategy for the provision of specialist urban firefighting training facilities and associated support services. The purpose of this engagement is to better understand current market capability, capacity, commercial models and potential delivery approaches capable of supporting London Fire Brigade's Modern Firefighting Strategy Phase 2 programme. The Brigade anticipates delivering advanced operational firefighting training to approximately 4,800 operational firefighters and 200 officer observations over a three-year ( one year with option to extend by a further two years subject to funding) programme commencing in Q1 2027. We are particularly interested in engaging with organisations capable of providing some or all of the following: - Specialist live fire training facilities. - Carbonaceous fire behaviour training environments. - Advanced fire behaviour and tactical firefighting facilities. - Basement fire training facilities. - Tactical ventilation training facilities. - Fire compartments capable of venting gases and smoke to atmosphere. - Temperature monitoring and environmental monitoring systems. - Residential accommodation. - Catering and welfare facilities. - Structural firefighting PPE and associated laundering and maintenance services. - Operational support infrastructure, including equipment storage and breathing apparatus support services. However, suppliers are invited to provide feedback on alternative delivery models that may improve value for money, resilience, innovation or operational effectiveness. As part of this engagement, suppliers are invited to provide feedback on: - Market capability and capacity. - Mobilisation requirements. - Commercial and contractual models. - Pricing structures and key cost drivers. - Capacity and resilience risks. - Sustainability and social value opportunities. - Innovation and emerging technologies. - Any aspects of the proposed requirement that may impact competition or market participation. Information gathered will be used solely to inform the future procurement strategy, commercial approach and specification development. Participation in this exercise will not provide any supplier with an advantage in any future procurement process. We would be grateful if your organisation could review the accompanying PME Pack and complete the associated questionnaire by 5th October 2026 deadline. Gateshead Council (the Council) is implementing a Contract with an external contractor to deliver FaME - Falls Management Exercise Programme. Contract dates: 1st October 2026 - 31st March 2029. Extension options: 1 period of 12 months.
The National Armaments Director Group, part of the Ministry of Defence, intends to award a contract for the design, manufacture, installation and assurance of a replacement Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information (WECDIS) Interface Unit (WIU) and Combat System Interface Unit (CSIU) (together the Interfaces) to OSI Maritime Ltd (OSI). The contract will be for a term of two years and have an estimated value of £15m (inc VAT). It is considered that this contract can be awarded under Section 41 of the Procurement Act 2023 because the direct award justification specified in paragraph 6 of Schedule 5 (single supplier – technical reasons) applies. This is because the WIU and CSIU are required to interface with an upgraded WECDIS being procured from OSI (and which was the subject of a separate transparency notice 2025/S 000-074667 published on 18 November 2025 and both Interfaces need to be integrated into the wider architecture of systems currently installed on Royal Navy platforms, all of which are supplied, supported and assured by OSI. These include the Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (EPCIS) and Warship Automatic Identification System (WAIS). Only OSI has the necessary intellectual property rights, technical drawings and expertise to design, manufacture, install and assure replacement Interfaces which are compatible with existing Royal Navy architecture. There are no reasonable alternatives. The current CSIU/WIU supplier has been approached to ensure continuity of supply, but the equipment support package which includes an update to the WIU/CSIU component, does not offer value for money and will therefore not be progressed. The Authority considered alternative procurement approaches prior to selecting the proposed route to market. Following assessment of the available options, OSI Maritime Ltd was identified as the only viable supplier capable of delivering the requirement whilst maintaining compatibility with the existing ECPINS, WECDIS and WAIS architecture and meeting the Authority's technical, operational and safety requirements.

DCMS is seeking to commission a two-phase research project to investigate UK media consumption habits and public trust in media. Phase 1 would consist of a behavioural cohort study (or another appropriate methodology) to map the specific "user pathways" audiences take to find, consume, and value information across different media sources, such as traditional news broadcasts and social media, across different demographics. Building on these findings, Phase 2 would explore how individuals perceive trust in different media sources due to their own perception of mis/disinformation, assess the broader effects of these consumption pathways on factors such as viewer retention and wider social cohesion, as well as overall integrity of the UK's information ecosystem. This project will be commissioned either through a Competitive Flexible Procedure under the Procurement Act 2023, or through the RM6126 Research and Insights framework. This is part of the DCMS Science and Analysis R&D Programme, which supports R&D capability within the department. This project will run concurrently alongside three other large projects across 2027-2030; these include 'what works' research into AI adoption in DCMS sectors; a continuation of previous research to develop data-intensive approaches for capturing engagement at unticketed cultural, heritage, and sporting events/activities/locations, e.g. using mobile app data to model how people participate in our events; and a continuation of previous research to design and improve methods for holistically tracking the long-term impact of major events, tested on a major event.
